About I.B.E.W. Local 126Local Union 126, IBEW, serves Pennsylvania, Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland electrical line construction and maintenance industry, first and foremost, by representing the area’s Union Outside Linemen, Tree-Trimmers, Equipment Operators, Teladata and Maintenance Members, and providing local signatory contractors with a trained workforce in our geographic area. Local Union 126, IBEW, also works diligently to promote harmonious relationships between labor, management and clients. OUR MISSIONLocal Union 126, IBEW, works to provide our member outside linemen, line clearance workers, signatory contractors and their customers with the service they need and deserve.
CHARTER HISTORY OF LOCAL UNION 126, INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS
In October 1960, the following counties of Pennsylvania were added to the jurisdiction: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Fayette, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland. Jurisdiction for Line Clearance work for all of Pennsylvania (except for Duquesne Light Company property). Delaware and Eastern Shore Public Service property on the Eastern Shore of Maryland was added in January 1965, by merger with Local Union 1986. Line Clearance work on the Conwingo Power Company property in Maryland was added by organization of contract line clearance employees on that property. Line Clearance jurisdiction on the Allegheny Energy and West Penn properties was transferred to Local Union 1919 in 1998. Line Clearance jurisdiction on the First Energy properties and PP&L was transferred to Local Union 1919 in 2004. Organization of CATV Company employees in several Pennsylvania locations added CATV jurisdiction: also Continental Telephone of Emmaus, Pennsylvania and Rad-Waste Employees at the Peach Bottom Atomic Station. Chartered in controversy, tested by strife, we have grown from a small beginning to a substantial Local Union in this great International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
