Too many Americans, including a large number of IBEW members and their families, have decided to become spectators in the game of politics.
They believe politics have become too negative - too mean spirited - too influenced by special interests - and too corrupted by money and more money.
They believe, as ordinary citizens, - their participation - theii vote won't make a difference.
But the truth is, we do have the voting power to make a difference. The best way -the only way - we can reform the political game is for us to stop being spectators and get into the action.
We can elect public officials who are more concerned about our streets than wall street, more concerned about our business than big business, and more concerned about working Americans than wealthy Americans.
However, we can't make a difference unless we all become registered, and we go out and vote. And with mail-in voter registration, getting registered couldn't be any easier.
Just obtain a mail-in voter registration form from your Local Union, your local election board, community center, or other public places. You can also fill out a registration form on line at: www.vote-smart.org/
- In politics, if you're neither registered nor intend on voting, you don't exist. You're a NON-PERSON.
- One of the first questions a political pollster asks is whether you are a registered voter. If you are not, the pollster doesn't want to hear what you have to say.
- If you don't register, you shouldn't be surprised that elected officials or candidates aren't spending any time thinking about you and your family. After all, you have declared yourself to be out of politics, and they have simply taken you at your word. If you don't care, why the hell should they?
- It's just this simple - if you're not registered, you don't have any voice at all!!!
